Bathinda, February 11 (DNS)- Predicting a hung assembly in Punjab, People's Party of Punjab supremo Manpreet Singh Badal today claimed no political outfit would be able to form a government in the state without his party's support.
Manpreet along with his father Gurdas Singh Badal was here to express grief over the demise of PPP's Bathinda (Urban) constituency candidate Sukhdeep Singh Bhinder's father Pritpal Singh.
The PPP president claimed there was a triangular contest between the Congress, the SAD-BJP and the PPP in the assembly elections. He claimed, “There would be an unexpected result this time as the state people had voted silently."

Chandigarh, February 1 (DNS)- With their fate sealed in the electronic voting machines, the battle-weary “generals” and their foot soldiers are back into their cocoons. The next five weeks will be an agonising wait for most candidates with the high voter turnout keeping them on the tenterhooks.
“I can say with certainty that after the poll outcome, the People’s Party of Punjab activists and supporters will move with their head high. The PPP will not be disgraced in these election”, claims Manpreet Singh Badal, PPP chief.
Exuding confidence and appearing joyous, he says the voter response to the party has been overwhelming. “We had not expected the kind of response we got in the countryside”, he says when asked to give his assessment of the party performance. Any plans to unwind himself? “No, no,” he says emphatically. “ With my son and daughter back home from school in March, I will, in fact, be rewinding myself”, he says with a laugh.
“I am to reach Delhi tomorrow for laser surgery on a cyst in my throat. Doctors have told me that I will be discharged from hospital in a week’s time. They say it is not malignant. After that, I will be back in action”.

Chandigarh, January 31 (DNS)- People's Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Singh Badal has thanked voters of the state for having come out and voted in large numbers. "The large turnout showed the anger of the voter not only with the existing government, but also with the SAD and the Congress meery-go-round every five years" he said.
He said there was a clear indication that people wanted change. "Also, our state has a young population and youngsters coming out to vote in large numbers shows that there has been a clear disconnect between their aspirations and the state policies ", he said.
"I have been very humbled by the love and affection that has come to me from Punjabis all over. New Delhi, January 28 (DNS) The campaigning in Uttarakhand and Punjab for the Assembly elections slated for January 30, ends on Saturday.
In Uttarakhand 800 candidates are in the fray for 70-member Assembly seats, while as 1880 aspirants are in the fray for 117-member Assembly seats in Punjab.
The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements to ensure free and fair polls in both the states slated on January 30.

Ropar, April 27 (DNS)- President of the PPP Manpreet Singh Badal said here that tainted MLAs and leaders whose relatives were involved in criminal cases should resign on moral grounds. “Having such relatives is a matter of shame,” he said.
In town to inaugurate his party’s office, he said six lakh people have already become members of the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP), while 25 lakh membership forms have been distributed, president PPP Manpreet Singh Badal said.
Badal was here to inaugurate party’s office at Ropar. He said PPP’s membership fee was just Re 1 of which 30 P was the cost of the membership slip printed and 70 P went to the company maintaining data of its members. Party was not collecting any separate party fund from its members. “We will have a database of our members. This database will be helpful in election campaigning to be in touch with our members and propagate our activities,” said Badal.
The membership drive would continue till June 30. The party has not targeted any certain number of members. “We just don’t want to increase the number of members for the sake of large head count. We want committed people joining us and working for the cause of Punjab,” he said.
Badal said within next 90 days the party would establish itself with all its wings in place. The membership drive was launched on April 27 at Khatkar Kalan and since then many people have joined hands with the party.

Gidderbaha, April 20 (DNS)- With the acceptance of Manpreet Singh Badal’s resignation from the Punjab Legislative Assembly by Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon yesterday, this predominantly rural assembly constituency is likely to witness hectic political activity in days to come.
Manpreet Badal submitted his resignation to Kahlon in the last week of March before floating the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) at Khatkar Kalan against the advice of his supporters from this assembly segment.
He had met them at a gurdwara in Guptsar village after he was removed from the Cabinet.
While Manpreet Badal’s endeavour will be to stabilise and expand the PPP base, his uncle and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has already initiated an exercise to ensure that the SAD hold in the area remains intact.
The Chief Minister Badal has already held two rounds of Sangat Darshan in this segment (in the second week of this month) to revive his ties with the people.

Chandigarh, March 27 (Agencies)- Former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal Sunday launched his People's Party of Punjab (PPP) at a rally in Khatkar Kalan, the village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh who was martyred during the freedom struggle.
"PPP shall have zero tolerance for corruption and shall function strictly according to meritocracy," said Manpreet Badal, the party's president.
"The constitution of the party has been framed in a manner that there is no scope for any corrupt element to enter. Likewise, nepotism and dynasty system have been vehemently discouraged," he added.
"No party member, on reaching the age of 70 years, will hold a position of office as a minister, speaker, parliamentary secretary in the union or the state council of ministers," Manpreet Badal told the gathering.
"The tenure of any individual in these positions would be a maximum of 10 years," he stated.
Abhey Singh Sandhu and Bharat Bhushan Thapar, the nephews of Bhagat Singh and martyr Sukhdev Singh respectively, also offered their unequivocal support to the PPP.

They have contributed to the Punjab economy by investing in different sectors, but due to high corruption in the state they have not invested in mega projects. PPP will take solid policy decisions to win back their trust and to encourage them to invest in various mega projects in Punjab. PPP will also strongly support NRIs’ demand to allow them to invest in agriculture sector, which will in turn help Punjab’s agro business to expand at national and international level. PPP encourage all NRIs (Indian citizens) to register their vote with election commission of India to bring change in the society.
